As public school parents, we are shocked and outraged that allegedly a school volunteer and child predator abused a growing number of our young people – our babies – who we entrust into the care of our schools each and every day.  This monstrous and destructive conduct is the worst betrayal of the trust that our young people should have in the adults who are responsible for caring for them.  We are praying for the victims of these terrible crimes and their families.  We have confidence that Dr. Maxwell, the leadership of the school system, and our public safety partners will take this issue head on, holding anyone accountable who allowed this vile conduct to occur and change or enforce any policies that need to better protect our kids.

We also acknowledge that the alleged crimes of this one person do not change the fact that there are countless numbers of responsible school personnel and volunteers working each and every day to make our schools better places to learn.  Let us all be vigilant in the education and protection of our most precious treasure – our children.
