Prayer and Vigilance in the Face of Terror and Evil

Please continue to keep the people of Orlando in your thoughts and prayers.  We must all unite and reject the radical extremism that has attempted to hijack Islam in order to perpetrate such evil.  The worst mass shooting in our country’s history was made possible due to the combination of this radical extremist ideology and everyday access to military assault style weapons, like the AR-15 — also used in the San Bernardino shooting and to murder children at Sandy Hook Elementary — that allows a person to shoot others with over a hundred rounds in just a few minutes and have no place in domestic society.  May God continue to bless America.

The Passing of Muhammad Ali – The World’s Greatest

Prince George’s County joins the rest of the world in mourning the loss of the “Greatest of All Time,” Muhammad Ali.  Muhammad Ali transcended sports more than any other athlete of the 20th century.  From protesting the Vietnam War to fighting for civil and human rights, Muhammad Ali changed history and reminded us all that doing what is principled is always greater and more noble than doing what is popular.  His indomitable will inside the ring was only matched by his resilience outside of the ring.  He battled Parkinson’s Disease for the last three decades of his life with grace and dignity and gave hope to millions of others afflicted with this terrible disease around the world.  Muhammad Ali now goes to his rest and leaves us a legacy of excellence, wisdom, wit, persistence, and hope to carry on for generations to come.  “The hands can’t hit what the eyes can’t see.  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.  Rumble young man, rumble.”

Over 400,000 Prince George’s County Residents Should Vote Today – April 26 Presidential Primary – Make Your Voices Heard!

REMINDER: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE 2016 MARYLAND PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

I am pleased to share with you my recommendations for the Maryland Presidential Democratic Primary happening today, Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 7AM-8PM.  To find out more details about voting in the Presidential Primary, go here: http://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/sites/elections/Pages/default.aspx.  Every one of Prince George’s County’s 440,000+ registered Democrats should vote in today’s primary if you did not vote in early voting.  Exercising your vote will help ensure that Prince George’s receives the federal, state, and local resources that we need to strengthen our communities.  Please, make your voices heard!

Hillary Clinton for President

Hillary Clinton is the best prepared, most thoughtful candidate for President in this election and has the vision and passion to stand up for middle-class, working class, everyday Americans.  Secretary Clinton will build on President Barack Obama’s progressive legacy of expanding America’s ladder into the middle class by making college and skilled trades affordable for all students, strengthening small businesses, establishing universal pre-kindergarten, rewarding companies that keep jobs here instead of overseas, and protecting America from violent extremism while upholding our values. I strongly endorse Hillary Clinton as our next President and I am pleased to be on the ballot as a pledged delegate for Secretary Clinton in the 5th Congressional District.

Donna Edwards for United States Senator

Donna Edwards will be a true progressive champion as our next United States Senator.  Congresswoman Edwards is a fearless leader who isn’t afraid to take on the tough issues and entrenched special interests, even when it’s unpopular to do so.  She is refreshingly authentic and has been a fierce advocate for Prince George’s County by working to bring federal investment to the County, passing legislation for providing healthy meals to students in need, and ensuring STEM opportunities for high needs schools and underrepresented communities.  I strongly endorse Donna Edwards as our next United States Senator.

Ingrid Turner for Judge for the Prince George’s County Circuit Court

From serving as a Judge Advocate General for the U.S. Navy, Chair of the Prince George’s County Council, to being a Board Member of the County Bar Association, Ingrid Turner has the unique qualification of not only distinguishing herself as an aggressive advocate for the law but also as an accomplished maker of the law.  I had the privilege of serving with Ingrid for four years and she exhibited an unparalleled empathy and passion for improving the quality of life for the residents of our County.  I strongly endorse Ingrid Turner as a Judge for the Prince George’s County Circuit Court.

Herman Dawson for Judge for the Prince George’s County Circuit Court

Judge Herman Dawson Sr. has served as a dynamic and strong voice of justice on the Prince George’s County Circuit Court for over 15 years.  Judge Dawson has dealt with some of our most challenging criminal cases with a balance of toughness and flexibility to both protect the public while also creating second chances for those who demonstrate an interest in following the right path. Judge Herman Dawson is one of the most respected members of the Court and I strongly endorse him to continue as a Judge for the Prince George’s County Circuit Court.
