Fugitive Who Escaped From Southern Maryland Hospital Is Captured in Indiana
A D.C. man who was arrested in Prince George’s County on charges he sold drugs told police he was sick, escaped from a Maryland hospital and then was captured in Indiana.
Byron Matthews, 54, was pulled over Tuesday afternoon in Prince George’s County and arrested after an officer found an outstanding 2011 fugitive warrant for marijuana sales in Pennsylvania, Prince George’s County Police said.
Matthews, of Crittenden Street in Northeast D.C., complained of chest pains as he was taken to the Department of Corrections, police said. He was transported to MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Md.
He then escaped from the hospital, police said.
Matthews was captured about 600 miles away — in Indianapolis — police said in an update late Wednesday. Information on how he was caught was not immediately revealed.

Update on WSSC Water Main Break Repairs
Update on Water Main Break Repairs
Breaks on 90-Year-old Pipes Highlight Aging Infrastructure
Laurel – August 12, 2015: Repairs on two 90-year-old pipes that broke this morning highlight the issue of aging infrastructure in WSSC’s system. The first break, located on East-West Highway at Route 1 in Prince George’s County, has ongoing repairs. The second break, at Flower Avenue and Piney Branch Road in Montgomery County, has been repaired.
· Flower Avenue & Piney Branch Road: Repairs are complete on the 12-inch pipe and customers have water service. Flower Avenue remains closed between Piney Branch Road and Arliss Street while Washington Gas completes a repair, then road repairs will begin. Several businesses experienced flooding and WSSC Claims representatives were onsite to walk customers through the claims process.
· East-West Highway: Repairs continue on a 10-inch water main that broke early this morning closing the westbound lanes. The lanes will remain closed through evening rush hours; two lanes get by in the opposite direction. The road damage extended 25 feet beyond the break site illustrating the force of rushing water.
WSSC is currently replacing more than 55 miles of water mains per year. Approximately 37 percent of the system pipes are over 50 years old.
Follow us @WSSCWaterNews for updates on the water main repair and lane closures.

Prince George’s County Dept. of Social Services

(301) 909-6300
CAP-approved customers will receive a credit on water and sewer bills to cover the Ready to Serve Charge. These customers will only be charged for their water and sewer usage. Customers can further reduce their bills through conservation.
Authority to have such a program was approved by the Maryland State Legislature and signed by the Governor. The CAP is 100% funded by WSSC revenues.
Ready-To-Serve Charge
There are two components to this charge: (1) the existing Account Maintenance Fee (AMF) which covers the cost to bring water and sewer service to every home and business; including meters, meter readers and billing; and (2) Infrastructure Investment Fee which is allocated to the replacement/rehabilitation of system infrastructure.
Effective July 1, 2015, the AMF is increasing from $11 to $16 per quarter for most customers, and the new Infrastructure Investment Fee will be approximately $6 per quarter. Total savings for CAP-approved customers is $22/quarter or $88/year.
NOTE: If you are approved for CAP, you are automatically eligible for exemption from the $15 quarterly Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund fee which WSSC administers on behalf of the State of Maryland.
