Maryland will reportedly have a $500 Million budget surplus in the current fiscal year, which removes any excuses for not fully funding the State’s Bridge to Excellence formula for fair and equitable funding of local school systems. Prince George’s County students would receive nearly $20 million in aid from these funds in the current year, allowing for more immediate investment in areas like prekindergarten, professional development, signature programs, and technology.
