LOCATION: MGM National Harbor, Mandalay Bay Room, 101 MGM National Avenue, National Harbor, Maryland 20745. Interested subcontractors and vendors are invited to attend an Outreach Session for the following services only:

SERVICE AREAS: Entertainment Sound Technology Management (Sound Systems for Live Entertainment), Floral and Floral Supplies, Spa and Salon Operating Supplies (Nail Service Supplies, Disposables, Waxing Supplies, Hair Care Items, etc.), F&B Linen, Locksmith Supplies, Biohazard Waste Hauling, Cardboard Hauler (Recycling Service and Rebate Program), Roof Top Cleaning and Inspections, Door Airwalls, Conservatory Props/Displays, Chiller Maintenance, Boiler Maintenance, UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supplies), Generator Maintenance, Cooling Towers (Condensers), Annual Infrared Testing of Electrical System, Large Metal Hauler (Recycling Service Program). Note: The MGM National Harbor Community Benefit Agreement includes a 20% minimum goal of spending with County-based minority (incl. woman owned) businesses and 30% minimum for spending with overall County-based businesses in its projected $40-50 million each year in buying/procurement activities during the annual operation of MGM National Harbor. $1 Million in Grants Available for Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Grant Program – July 28 deadline

From Chesapeake Bay Trust and DoE: “The Prince George’s County Department of the Environment (DoE) and the Chesapeake Bay Trust announce funding opportunities through the Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Grant Program. This program supports on-the-ground environmental restoration activities that improve local water quality, beautify communities and engage residents in the restoration of local rivers, streams and other natural spaces in Prince George’s County.  Grants will support water quality restoration and community engagement projects that aim to increase resident awareness of watershed issues and engage citizens in action projects to preserve the County’s natural resources.  Grant eligible projects  include green practices (rain gardens, bioretention cells, streamside forest buffers and green roofs) capturing stormwater flowing from parking lots or other impervious surfaces; pet waste management; litter prevention and reduction efforts; resident education focusing on  practices that can be implemented at the homeowner level; trash awareness and behavior change projects; work with faith-based communities to provide outreach and education for the Alternative Compliance Program; tree plantings; and projects that foster K-12 environmental education.”

“Culture Keepers Youth Conference” by the Prince George’s African-American Museum & Cultural Center – June 3

From PGAAMCC: “Culture Keepers is an after school program for high school students. Students enrolled in the Culture Keepers program are researchers and teachers of African American history, art, and culture. Each year, Culture Keepers engage in innovative projects that interpret Prince George’s African American history, art, and culture through dynamic visual and performing arts events, such as mural projects, cultural exchanges, and community forums. This youth-led conference will allow the community to engage in dialogue with the Culture Keepers to discuss this year’s theme, Chocolate Cities, through workshops, roundtables, and live art.”

Remaining Community Discussions on Litter: “Are You Concerned About Litter in Prince George’s County” – June 6 and June 8

From the Department of the Environment and PFC Coalition: The People for Change Coalition has partnered with the University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center and the Prince George’s County Dept. of the Environment to discuss the issue of litter in the County.  “How do you feel about litter? Who do you think is responsible? How can the problem be fixed?” Join the discussions!
